Week 41: Stockton Brookside

Heat, Car Trouble, and the Spirit

Dear Family and Friends,

It may not be as hot as it is in Tucson, but when you have to wear a white shirt, tie, and pants in over 100 degree weather, it's incredibly uncomfortable.  But if I learned anything from living in Arizona, it's to just not care and let it be.  Today it's supposed to be 104, and to decline to 90 through the week, but I heard that it will probably be back to 100's again next week.  The good thing though is that almost everyday we have is filled with appointments and lessons to teach and most of them are at the church, so we don't have to worry about being in the heat all of the time anyways.  This last week we had another zone conference that I mentioned we were having.  It was a reflection of what we had discussed at the zone conference with Elder Evans last week as well as some goals for the mission.  And the next day I went back down to Modesto for a personal meeting with our Mission President and got to talk to him for a bit.  After each of these meetings we rushed back to Stockton for our many appointments which mostly all went well and didn't fall through.  We met a new girl in the YSA last week at church and we taught her the first lesson on Tuesday and she committed to be baptized for this coming weekend.  So this next weekend we will have her, and another girl get baptized.  And the next weekend we have another girl getting baptized that we have been working with for a couple months.  Her only problem is that she is just so busy so it took a really long time for us to get through all of her lessons.  And then the week after her we have a guy in Brookside getting baptized.  He has been married to a member for over 10 years and is finally following the right path and accepted a date to get baptized.  He's really funny and knows exactly why he needs to be doing some of the things we share and that it's all true.

The only thing that has made the past 2 weeks kind of bad is that every couple days our car won't start.  We don't leave anything on or do anything bad to the car, but for some reason we will drive to a lesson and then when we finish the car won't start.  You can hear the ticking of the spark plugs, but either the engine won't turn over at all, or the engine will turn but it won't fire up.  Right now it's at pepboys and they are checking the car and everything to make any changes necessary, so it's out of our hands but still pretty frustrating that we had to worry about it.

I'm doing pretty well otherwise.  Thank you for the support and love.

Love,
Elder Weber
