Week 43: Stockton Brookside

Dear Family and Friends,

The few lessons we have had this week have been really good.  They've been preceded by prayer to know what we should say exactly and if what we were going to teach would even be relevant to who we were going to teach.  My companion and I are doing well.  We've been working pretty hard to try to keep up the amount of work we have put in.  It's been pretty tough to try to make the changes to keep up with him but I'll have new habits for my next companion.  He is going home next week on Wednesday.  Which also means just like that the transfer is over in one week.

This week has been pretty rough. We had multiple people we were working with with baptismal dates that have either let doubt creep in or have decided that they will "postpone their baptism indefinitely" because the coffee "detoxing has opened their eyes". We've also dropped in people to teach even though we've been working just as hard to try to keep finding. Part of this week has yielded in lots of frustration, but very prayerful nights to know what is best to do for some of these people. It's frustrating because I feel all that we need to do is talk with them and discuss what is going on in their minds and something that we'll say will help them. But when they don't even respond or answer when we want to help it's incredibly frustrating to see how close they are to being baptized yet they just make one little mistake after another. On the other hand, we have had much success after working so hard this transfer and we have been able to witness three of our investigators get baptized.  All in all, everything is okay. This week we used one of the recent converts of last week to come to two of our lessons with another girl her age. She is so on fire that she can ask the inspired questions for us and pulls out exactly what needs to be discussed. She is also incredibly strong in the gospel going against her mother who continually tries to put anti doctrine in her way. But there's always the little things that just get on my nerves either about myself or the people we work with. I know that with constant effort and graciousness that it will all work out.

Love,
Elder Weber
